TONE (beat lines v01)
car door opens. ding ding ding. door slams. key ignition.
dawn patrol starts the drive up the mountain.
snow falls softly on the windshield, wipers clear the view in one fell swoop.
headlights cut the darkness revealing vague shapes of trees and a winding road.
the two in front discuss the mission, serious and cautious.
someone in the back interjects. okay right, this sounds fun. enthusiastic but deadpan.
the driver glances to the rear view mirror, sees the person in the back but does not acknowledge. (the person in the back already has their helmet and goggles on? snow covered??)
silence, broken by the wipers one more time.
cut to acsent, beacon start up sound, labored breathing, squeak of ski pants, walking.
one of them stops, tilts head to listen.
problem?
no.. just checking the route (lying). they continue the ascent.
beacon search tone increasing proximity, carried on the wind search tone overwhelms the viewer, cut to skiing

they stop above an open slope to catch their breath. overwhelming silence.
oh god. one skis frantically down an imaginary slide path.
as the other catches up, beacon search tone resumes.
the first is already assembling their probe. stabs frantically.
what are you doing what's going on?
probe recedes all the way into the snow, the prober awkwardly falls into it elbow deep.
